Our Approach
Since 2001, we’ve been working to demonstrate that pro bono service can be a reliable, high-quality, cost-effective, scalable resource for nonprofits that brings talent from marketing, technology, human resources, design and strategy fields to work for social progress.
- Reliable: We have completed 94% of the pro bono projects started through our Service Grant program.
- High-quality: Upon completing a Service Grant project, 98% of our nonprofit clients report that they would recommend us to their peers.
- Cost-effective: The resources our Service Grant projects bring to nonprofits are valued at 8 times more than the cost it takes to deliver those services.
- Scalable : Our Service Grant program has awarded over 1,300 pro bono projects to more than 1,000 nonprofits in need, which amounts to over 780,000 hours of pro bono service valued at more than $63 million.
We are now increasingly focused on creating and strengthening a multi-billion dollar marketplace for pro bono service by 2020, which will be large, professionalized and transparent, making these resources readily available to nonprofit organizations throughout the United States.
We’ve already made some real strides toward reaching this goal:
- Conceived of the Billion + Change Campaign run by Corporation for National and Community Service to secure pledges from corporations to provide pro bono service to their community partners. Already services valued at over $500 million have been pledged by leading corporations.
- Conducted trainings on building pro bono programs for over 70 leading companies and universities.
- Advised leading corporations and institutions such as American Express, AARP, Pfizer, Capital One, Target and Chevron in building customized pro bono programs.
- Partnered with the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) to develop standards and a dollar valuation for pro bono service.
