Finance Manager
The Taproot Foundation is seeking a dynamic and professional individual to provide financial management support to the organization. The Finance Manager will be a detail and systems oriented individual who can help make the Taproot Foundation the employer of choice for ambitious professionals in the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities
The Finance Manager will play a critical role in the overall success of the organization by providing financial support to the organization, ensuring that finances are in order and in good standing.

Finance and Accounting
  • Oversee and process A/P: ensure proper coding of expenditures, generate checks, maintain A/P files, research and resolve A/P issues efficiently
  • Establish and maintain A/R systems: ensure proper and timely billing and collections, make bank deposits
  • In consultation with program management, develop, implement, and maintain effective financial/accounting policies, processes, and internal controls
  • Assist with expense approvals
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit
  • Perform quarterly & monthly close of accounting system
  • Generate financial reports as requested (e.g. P & L, balance sheet)
  • Ensure effective tracking and release of temporarily restricted funds and deferred revenue
  • Develop and maintain accurate financial schedules (e.g. depreciation, accruals, prepaids, payroll allocations)
  • Assess financial tracking and reporting systems and advise on potential systems changes
  • Work collaboratively with program and fundraising teams to reconcile systems data and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly financial analysis
  • Develop and maintain effective systems for documentation and filing of financial records
  • Assist with preparation of annual tax forms


Experience/Skills
  • Experience with financial and operations management in a nonprofit organization
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and identify opportunities to improve systems and processes
  • Experience developing and implementing nonprofit policies and systems
  • Understanding of non-profit accounting
  • Experience in the administration of an organization with multiple offices
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks
  • Experience working with independent contractors (IT, accounting, audit)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Some experience with financial analysis helpful
  • IT troubleshooting and IT plan development helpful
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Flexible personality to adapt to the needs of a growing, fast paced organization
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, work gracefully under pressure and maintain a strong work ethic
  • Bachelor's degree


Compensation
$50,000-$55,000, DOE

Location
San Francisco (near Union Square)
