Funder Services Coordinator

Core Responsibilities
The Funder Services department supports the Taproot Foundation's grantseekers so that they can reach their fundraising goals.

The Coordinator will support the Taproot Foundation's local and national fundraising efforts. S/he will engage in grant writing, reporting, research, and data management. Core responsibilities:

Grant Management
  • Proposals/Reports
    • Write error-free, template-based documents for institutional funders
      • Letters of Intent
      • Grant proposals/reports
    • Generate all documents in a timely manner
    • Constant and timely communication with regional fundraisers
  • Research
    • Identify potential funder leads
    • Research & qualify potential funder leads
    • Provide leads to the appropriate regional fundraisers

Other fundraising tasks
  • Provide support to the VP of National Expansion upon request
    • Grant writing, reporting, research, and editing
  • Produce impact reports for internal/external distribution
    • Annual/Quarterly lists of Service Grant awards
    • Service Grant evaluation results
    • Lists of regional and national funders
  • Dollars for Doers/Matching Gifts
  • Support for fundraising conference calls

Database Management
  • Maintain SalesForce.com database (400+ records), update funder records as needed
  • Use SalesForce.com to track workflow and manage personal Tasks


The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is interested in fundraising and nonprofit management, including the development of grant writing and prospecting skills. S/he has a genuine interest in the nonprofit sector and joining an innovative, rapidly-growing organization.

Experience:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of nonprofit or business experience, preferably with an emphasis on fundraising, grantwriting, marketing, and/or producing business communications
  • Bachelor's degree - or foreign equivalency - requiring extensive writing (e.g. journalism)


Skills:
  • Professional-level communication skills (written, copyediting, verbal, phone)
  • Sales / fundraising, particularly lead qualification
  • Online research / lead generation
  • Work gracefully under deadlines in a quota-driven environment
  • Willing to take the initiative to improve business processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills - can assess and understand the needs of distinct audiences
  • Strong MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills


Compensation
Annual salary of $35,000. Generous benefits, including medical and dental insurance.

San Francisco (near Union Square)

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Funder Services Manager in the Taproot Foundation's National Office
