Recruitment Coordinator
The Taproot Foundation is seeking a full-time National Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to join our national volunteer recruitment team and support the growth of the Taproot Foundation's Service Grant program. Our recruitment team functions much like a recruitment team at a corporation in that we recruit for specific volunteer roles with specific skills.

The Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for placing skills-based volunteering postings with partners such as Monster.com, CareerBuilder, Craigslist, Idealist and VolunteerMatch. He or she will review resumes and profiles and then phone interview qualified applicants in all Taproot Foundation cities, often in prestigious positions at top companies in order to get them initiated. Additionally, he or she will contribute to volunteer outreach via mass emails, phonecalls and will command a thorough knowledge of Taproot Foundation and all of the volunteer opportunities that we offer. Additional responsibilities such as online marketing and high-level partnership management are likely to be added to job responsibilities after the first six months of hire. This position is ideal for someone with social-natured, service-oriented experience looking for a job in a dynamic organization that is making a significant difference in our community.

Key Responsibilities
The Recruitment Coordinator will work out of Taproot Foundation's national office in support of volunteer recruitment efforts in the Bay Area, New York City, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Washington DC and Los Angeles.

  • Primary Responsibilities:
    • Review hundreds of volunteer profiles per month, including resumes, portfolios and writing samples; be able to distinguish and articulate volunteers' professional skills based on this information
    • Conduct phone interviews with qualified volunteers about their career experience and how their skills match up with specific Taproot Foundation volunteer opportunities

  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Post volunteer role descriptions (similar to job postings) on online job boards, volunteer boards, and other websites
    • Engage non-active Taproot Foundation volunteers in order to encourage them to become actively involved in new projects
    • Plan and execute additional volunteer outreach via email regularly, including creation and execution of weekly email blasts
    • Strategize and test online marketing and new volunteer acquisition initiatives
    • Initiate outreach to potential and existing partners in order to ensure access to current and future recruitment channels

Required Skills and Attributes
  • Able to speak on the phone in highly professional and engaging way with a range of people including senior executives
  • Tactful and articulate business communication and interpersonal writing skills; able to write emails in a clear and thoughtful manner
  • Capable of analytical, methodical approaches to reviewing resumes and extracting information from them
  • Highly responsible; able to self-manage, exercise independent judgment, and work well with limited supervision
  • Outgoing and eager to take initiative
  • High level of comfort with basic Microsoft Office applications: specifically Outlook and Excel
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Comfortable in entrepreneurial, start-up environment
  • BA/BS from accredited college or university or equivalent experience

Compensation
$35,000 in addition to competitive benefits package including medical and dental insurance
