National Volunteer Week Thank You
To our pro bono consultants,Happy National Volunteer Week!
Consider this an interactive, virtual thank you card from all of us at Taproot Foundation.
Today we honor our pro bono consultants from coast to coast for National Volunteer Week, or as we call it, National Pro Bono Week! Since 2001, you have collectively provided $49 million of pro bono services to over 800 nonprofits nationwide and we are grateful for your commitment.
We don't award money to nonprofits; we award something far more valuable--your talent and time. You are truly the life force of Taproot Foundation and we realize every success we have is ultimately due to your great work and dedication. To our over 4,000 current pro bono consultants--thank you all for using your gifts and skills to give back. We are so proud to have each of you as part of our team.
Please take a moment to reflect on your tremendous accomplishments highlighted below. We encourage you each to leave a message of thanks to your fellow "Roots" in the Taproot Foundation family. Think of recognizing your project teammates or even pro bono consultants in other markets you've never met before! Together, you represent a powerful network of innovative professionals dedicated to solving problems. Whether you know it or not, you are advancing the pro bono movement in the U.S., inspiring others to join, and serving as an invaluable resource to nonprofits nationwide.
We look forward to another year working with all of you to continue strengthening more nonprofits and communities.

Thank you, pro bono consultants! As the Program & Fundraising Fellow at Taproot Foundation Chicago, I would not be able to do my job without all of your input and suggestions on how to improve our processes. Because of your dedication to pro bono service, Taproot Foundation is growing, getting media attention, and strengthening more nonprofits than ever! This week is all about you, pro bono consultants--Happy National Volunteer Week!
Happy National Volunteer Week to all 4,000 of you! Prior to joining Taproot Foundation as the Western Region Development Manager, I was a paid consultant to nonprofits, providing many of the same services/products that you help Taproot Foundation provide to nonprofits at no cost. I have been incredibly impressed at the level of professionalism, experience, and dedication you all bring to your pro bono projects -- not to mention the deliverables -- which rival my for-profit consulting experience. Congratulations and thank you for all you do!
As a Program Manager here at Taproot Foundation, I am blown away on a daily basis by the incredible skill, talent and dedication of all our wonderful pro bono consultants! Your generosity of time and spirit are an inspiration to all. An enormous thanks for all the wonderful work that you do!
Chicago Pro Bono Consultants! Every day I am amazed by your selfless gifts of time and talent to our clients. I am so lucky to work with such fantastic teams. Happy National Volunteer Week.
As a member of the Taproot Foundation staff in New York, it was so great getting to meet so many local Pro Bono Consultants at the event. The event was great, but it can't compare to how great it is to work with such talented individuals such as you. Happy National Volunteer Week!
Thank you for making this all possible! YOUR impact on the nonprofit sector nationwide has been incredible. With $49 million invested you have already enabled hundreds of nonprofits to better serve our communities, thereby making life better for millions of our friends and neighbors.
Thank you for doing it pro bono!
Happy Volunteer Week! I have had the pleasure of working in 2 of our cities (NYC & DC) and while different, the talent & enthusiasm expressed by all of you is really an amazing thing to see. You give so much of yourself to improve the lives & communities of so many people. This week honors your dedication and commitment to service and I thank you for choosing Taproot Foundation as your outlet in giving back. I admire you all and celebrate you.
Time and again I've seen Pro Bono Consultants have long-lasting impact on the nonprofits that they serve. The great work starts with the Service Grant but the ripple affect extends through the whole nonprofit and out into the community. You exemplify the type of service encouraged by the the recent Serve America Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Obama. Thank you for all of your enthusiasm and hard work.
Kudos to all the Taproot volunteers to give their time and talent to such important organizations. I'm especially grateful to our team working on the Episcopal Community Services San Francisco Visual Identity and Branding project. Thanks to Brad, Jeff, Mark and Van - you guys are all super stars!!
I want to recognize my awesome team working on the Elderhealth Northwest Brand strategy project for showing so much heart on the project and sticking by the client as they go through an ugly budget cycle. Thanks to Jeff, Karrie, Becky and Gretchen for all their work and dedication. Do it pro-bono!
Huzzahs to our amazing volunteers: Doug Wedeck, Michelle Waldgeir, Dan Goggin, Alison Goggin. They are amazing and went to the ends of the earth and back for CAT. We love you guys!
I am currently leading my first TapRoot project for a marvelous client LEAPNYC, an organization which uses the arts to help bring math, science and social studies to life for under-served students in the 5-Boroughs.
Apart from helping a great cause, I'm honored and delighted to be working with a dedicated, bright and active group. Each bring their marvelous personality and skills to the table, takes a can-do attitude and gets the job done.

Program Manager, Seattle
My sincere thanks goes to the the Taproot team of volunteers that worked with the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California. We needed their help and they provided it unselfishly and with enthusiasm. In these difficult times as many non-profits struggle to keep their heads above water is is acts like these from our partners in the for-profit world that provide foundational sustenance and help provide ongoing benefit to our community at large. I suspect that often the learning experience during these projects is a 2 way street and hope that the volunteers received as much reward as our organization and clients did. Thank you volunteers!

Yes, it was challenging, ... operating "without a net" and creating the blueprint along the way; yet, teamwork made it successful. A special thankyou to all of the Taproot Foundation's management team and Alethea Hanneman and Ragnar von Shiber, for helping "make it happen."
I want to thank two outstanding pro bono Chicago teams.

Community Voices Heard has benefited from two terrific Taproot Volunteer teams: one to design a brochure for us and one that is delving into a financial analysis project right now. The brochure that our team last year produced (Terri Bunofsky, Claudia Dextre, Lindsay Hagan, Katrina Kass, and Michelle Ebertz) was truly spectacular and has really helped us communicate what we're doing to external individuals more effectively. Now, we're benefiting from the terrific work of Team #2 (Mark Goodenow, Tanya Bley, Carol Coli, Oksana Voronenko, and Kevin Buddhdew). They're preparing a financial model for us that is really going to help us gain a deeper understanding of our organizational expenses and needs. It's great having a team of dedicated volunteers that add to our capacity and share their skill set with us. Thanks for all your time and support!
We just kicked off a strategy project for Bay Area Video Coalition to focus on a Competitive/Collaborative Analysis, and I am consistently impressed with the caliber of talent from the Taproot team, as well as the BAVC team. We have an absolutely amazing group of volunteers! I can't thank this team enough for their dedication, professionalism, and effectiveness!

As a former Taproot employee, I have always been impressed with the dedication and motivation of all our wonderful volunteers.
Since my departure from Taproot-I went on to become the Executive Director of Literacy, Inc. and I instantly applied for a Service Grant.
I would like to thank our superb team of volunteers: Rachel, Susan K., Susan V., Charly, and David. Through their hard work, unwavering support and dedication LINC now has its first-ever annual report!! We are so proud of this piece and it was made possible because of our Taproot Team. We are forever grateful....
I would like to take the words of the Met Council that I have been working with, as I feel these represent the Taproot Organization as well:
"Acts of Charity-Deeds of kindness..."
It was a real joy to have worked with Joanna Foo, Alison Foster, Amy Scisson and Kristoffer Garin. Where else would I have had the opportunity to work with these fine people for a cause which has no real description.
My new team will continue to carry out the mission set forth by the wonderful people at Taproot, and I am just as excited today as I was one year ago about that which we as volnteers can contribute to our clients and to humanity in general by being leaders willing to give of ourselves the most treasured resource we have no control over, TIME....
Best in 2009 and beyond
Ray Leibman, Account Director
Without the support and dedication of the pro bono teams at Taproot, Community Youth Center (CYC) would not be where it is today. We are enjoying our fourth project with Taproot, starting with their help on our mission statement and branding, to our agency brochure, to our website, and now with our performance management. Each Taproot team and project has taken us to another level and we have learned so much from each and everyone of them. We deeply appreciate their commitment to the community and to the youth that we serve and look forward to working with them on future projects.
I want to offer both of my teams a huge thank you for all the work they have put in and continue to offer.
Midori & Friends Key Messages study is currently in the later part of the discovery phase and everyone has made great contributions to the progress of the work

A BIG Thank you to the University District Food Bank staff and volunteers - over the past 25 years, you have faithfully served Northeast neighborhoods of Seattle by providing food to anyone in need. In this time of need, there are 1,000 families each week that are thankful for your services; 200 of these neighbors are children who, because of you, can go to school well- fed and ready to learn. It is truly a pleasure to serve such an effective organization.
My sincere thanks goes to the the Taproot team of volunteers headed by Judi Marash and Sara Knox, that worked with Women In Need in NYC. Talk about a professional and talented group of women! In these difficult economic times, we are so lucky to have an organization like Taproot and even luckier to now call the volunteers that worked with us Friends! Keep up the good work Taproot! Thank you volunteers! All the best, WIN
