Taproot Celebrates 1000 Projects
This month Taproot announced an exciting milestone- the completion of our 1000th Service Grant! Consider this post an interactive thank you card from all of us at Taproot Foundation!
Please take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together. Join us in celebrating by posting your most memorable Taproot moment, sharing what pro bono service means to you, or thanking your fellow members of the Taproot Foundation family! You have proven that we can accomplish more by working together and sharing our talents and passions across sectors. Thank you!
Taproot Program Manager Anne Diaz shares what this milestone means to her:
As a Program Manager at Taproot Foundation, I have the great honor and privilege of overseeing our Service Grant projects from start to finish. A fellow Program Manager put it well when she recently remarked to me, "the emotional rewards at this job are amazing. We spend a lot of time at our desks, but we somehow get to witness and facilitate great change at the same time."
Over the course of the100 projects I've managed, I have witnessed amazing results. I have seen nonprofits whose work is completely transformed for the better by stellar deliverables; pro bono consultants who, inspired by their clients, change their careers by switching sectors (some even joining their client's staff, full time!); and nonprofit board members who decide to become pro bono consultants after they witness the professionalism of the Taproot teams working for their organization.
The road to 1000 projects hasn't always been smooth. Each one of our projects demands the utmost dedication and expertise from our pro bono consultants as well as professionalism and candor from our clients. There have been moments of frustration, disappointment, confusion, and hilarity. Yet these moments make the final deliverables and the overall experience that much sweeter for everyone involved.
When chosen to write this post in celebration of our 1000th project milestone, I tried to think of one moment that would encapsulate the deep gratitude I feel around each and every project we support - projects that expose the absolute best of the corporate and nonprofit worlds.
I thought about what to write as I ate lunch with a three-time Account Director who told me, "Anne, I will always be an Account Director for Taproot. This is work just too meaningful to stop." I kept thinking as I brainstormed with a pro bono consultant who had offered to help Taproot create different pro bono service options. I continued thinking as I spoke to representatives from a nonprofit and heard their deep appreciation for their team and the lessons they had learned about their infrastructure through creating a new logo.
What I realized is that this milestone can't be summed up in one moment. This milestone is the culmination of thousands of little "aha!" moments collectively proving that pro bono can be high quality, reliable, and accessible. Perhaps one of our clients summed it up best, in an email to me this morning: "This work has been an exciting and stimulating adventure!!!"
An adventure it is. Here's to the next 1000!
I get to work with the best, most effective, well-run, results-focused nonprofits in New York City. Add to that the amazingly talented Pro Bono Consultants that I am lucky to meet, connect to our clients, and partner with through our Service Grant Program and you can understand why I love my job. I am so excited to be celebrating our 1,000th Project Milestone with all of you!
Through these 1000 projects, we have proved that pro bono can be reliable, powerful, and accessible. It has been so exciting to be part of a movement that improves our society's ability to collaboratively meet challenges and benefit from shared successes.
I am grateful to work with such dedicated and passionate individuals.
Your fan, Aaron.
My favorite part of this celebration was getting the names of Program Managers' All-Time Top Ten Favorite Service Grants. Did you know not a single organization was repeated? Each PM had a completely different top ten list! Amazing. That diversity speak to how uniquely personal success really is!
As a VISTA Fellow at the Taproot Foundation I am incredibly inspired every day by all the work done by Taproot staff, nonprofits, consultants, and partners.
I am in awe of every staff member of the Taproot Foundation for their endless energy, hard-work, creativity, intelligence, support, and humor.
I feel honored to meet and work among so many amazing, dedicated people and to see so many people work together across professions and sectors!
Extra thanks to NYC Roots, Dr. Dagney, PR Extraordinaire Sam, HR Guru Ron, Aaron, Carly & Stephanie.
Congrats to all!
Although I've only worked at the Taproot Foundation for a year, I've been following our organization's mission since I was a college senior and Taproot was only present in half the cities it is now. It is continually awe-inspiring to now see first-hand the amazing dedication that our pro bono consultants (and our staff!) have to making our local communities better places to live and work.
Many thanks and congratulations to all!
What's most amazing to me about this milestone isn't the 1,000 projects we've completed - but rather, how quickly the next 1,000 will happen.
Thanks to all our supporters - pro bono consultants, donors, funders, enthusiasts, friends, VISTAs, staff and of course our amazing nonprofit clients - for helping to make this crazy little thing we call pro bono into a $58 million philanthropic enterprise.
Cheers!
I have been a fan of the Taproot Foundation's mission and program since I first heard about it. It is inspiring to witness the passion and dedication of Taproot's pro bono consultants who are taking volunteerism to another level. Congratulations to the Roots, nonprofit clients and every pro bono consultant for their dedication to the movement. Here's to 1000+ more projects that will help the nonprofit sector help others!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the thousands of Taproot Pro Bono Consultants I've met over the years. We'd be nowhere without your hard work and enthusiasm for pro bono.
Looking forward to 2,000 soon!
Having written a number of pro bono consultant newsletters in my time here, one of my favorite recurring moments has been updating the bulletin of that month's closed projects for New York City. Each time I add up the value of services we and our PBCs provide, I am astounded by the impact we provide. Great job to all the roots who have been with us through thick and thin, making our Service Grant program matter every day.
1,000 projects completed. This huge accomplishment was truly a team effort, congratulations to everyone involved, especially the nearly 10,000 Pro Bono Consultants who generously donated their time and talents! Here’s to the next 1,000 projects--can't wait to see what they bring.
We had an amazing 1,000 project celebration in Los Angeles. Over 85 PBC's attend as well as several clients from completed projects. One PBC, Mike Krauss talked about how inspirational his particular project had been in his life. A client from the Downtown Women's Center said their experience working with a Taproot team provided them with an amazing new website and wonderful overall guidance from senior business professionals. It was an inspiring evening for all.
I am continually blown away by the relentless commitment of our pro bono consultants and our dedicated nonprofit clients. To everyone who has worked hard over the past nine years to help contribute to a successful pro bono engagement with the Taproot Foundation, I offer my heartfelt congratulations!!
It has been an AMAZING experience being apart of the Taproot team these past nine months! The caliber of work I have seen from our consultants and the non-profits we have worked with have been absolutely SPECTACULAR! This has been such an inspiring and rewarding career experience :) Thank you so much to everyone who makes Taproot's mission of spreading the pro bono ethic a reality!
Wow! I am continually impressed by the outcome of each and every pro bono project our pro bono consultants produce. They are an inspiration and crusaders for the movement! The nonprofits we work with also amaze me with their dedication to the communities they serve. Bravo to all involved! Looking forward to what comes next!
The Taproot Foundation's mission is one that embodies passion . The dedication and drive of everyone involved but especially our PBC's and AmeriCorps VISTAs that work so hard out of their belief for this work is remarkable. 1,000 feels like just the beginning!
Since starting at Taproot volunteer orientations quickly became my favorite "duty." I love seeing new Pro Bono Consultants light up when hearing our case studies and watching their faces as the Taproot model clicks for them – it's an exciting moment knowing what they'll be able to offer nonprofits.
Congrats to everyone who has contributed to the amazing collaboration that is Taproot!
I continue to be impressed by the amazing work and dedication that each one of our Pro Bono Consultants provide to their local communities. I don't know of too many people who can say that they get the opportunity to walk into their office, pick up the phone, speak with a "client" and are moved by the amazing work that is being done day-in and day-out.
There aren't words that can even begin to describe the admiration I have for our Pro Bono Consultants and the impact that they are making in our communities. THANK YOU!!!!!
1,000 projects in under 10 years is just incredible. All of those organizations getting the professional services they deserve and need, all of the pro bono consultants dedicating their time and talents above and beyond what they do 8+ hours a day, the 70+ staff members who have been a part of the Taproot Foundation over the years and have made this accomplishment possible -- it adds up to an incredible milestone that I am so proud to be part of. Here's to the next 1,000 projects!
Can you make the most of what you've got? At the first Service Grant project meeting I attended as a Taproot Foundation employee, at the offices of a health care agency in San Francisco, the one conference room was being painted. So we hunkered down in the preschool classroom, a dozen great big adults on little primary-colored chairs at the little wooden tables, surrounded by child-sized easels and bookshelves, and kid's paintings far lower on the wall than we were used to. No one grumbled. Instead, it was one of the liveliest, most productive, and inspiring gatherings I’ve ever attended, a great introduction to the ingenuity and dedication of our clients and consultants. Doesn’t matter if the resources you start with are big or small: you’re going to end up with something great. Congratulations to everyone involved in getting to 1,000!
I remember talking to a Marketing Manager on a branding project back in 2004. The client provides counseling, social and practical services to LGBTQ youth, who are at high risk for just about every social ill you could mention, even suicide. She did a focus group with clients, and had feared she wouldn't be up to handling this no-nonsense, street-smart bunch. But she aced it, and generated invaluable insights that helped the organization better define its identity. Then she realized that her work would literally contribute to saving some of these kids' lives. The psychic rewards to her - and to me, ever since - have been enormous.
Here's to the second thousand! And the third, and the fourth ...

I can't say enough good things about Taproot and the people who work there. I was SO lucky to get connected with all of you when I did--right after your arrival in NYC. I've gained so much more than I've given that I almost feel guilty about it! (Not really, but you know what I mean.)
So...keep up the good work. Lara and Aaron, I miss talking to and seeing you on a regular basis. Looking forward to return sooner than later!
In the meantime, check out the new system we recently launched. My Taproot work was one of the things that led me to a job in the nonprofit sector: http://www.NYC-ARTS.org.
All the best,
Joe
Becoming a volunteer for Taproot Foundation has been a transforming experience for me.
It has enabled me to channel some of my time and energy into helping my community
At the same time, I have met and worked side by side with amazing people for the benefit of truly worthwhile
organizations and their constituencies.
When I joined Taproot in 2007, the nonprofit world was completely unknown to me.
Now I am a vested part of that world.
I will continue to "do it pro bono" for a long long time to come.
This is such a fantastic feat!! Congratulations to everyone involved - what a milestone!!
I'm just wrapping up my third grant, and looking forward to many more!
My work with Taproot has been a central part of my career over the last few years. I've made some great connections, worked with tremendous teams, and helped to put together some amazing products.
Congratulations!
Working with Taproot on the Reel Grrls Annual Report was a transformative experience. Reel Grrls is all about telling stories which, as a writer, was a wonderful environment to be in. Their passion for their mission made me reflect on what I’m passionate about and caused some heart-felt reflection on what matters in life. The other thing I noticed was the emergence of my Taproot team -- we started as a set of individuals fed by our energy to do-good: Hopeful and anxious. We finished as a creative team who were proud of each other. Confident and focused.
Congratulations on this commendable milestone! I want to take the opportunity to to thank the Taproot Foundation and the amazing volunteers we had the pleasure of working with on our brand strategy and key messages project. They were great!
My two Human Resources projects, with InMotion and with Housing Works, have been wonderful experiences for me and my teams. I've loved comparing how different organizations use HR and how differently they utilize Taproot. We've done performance appraisal assessments, a needs assessment on training, and planned annual retreats. My life is much richer with my Taproot experiences. When's the next round coming? :)
What wonderful news! Congratulations to all the committed members that make the TAPROOT FOUNDATION possible.
With your help, we were able to work with an invaluable team of talented, hard-working, and innovative people to come up with a beautiful and sleek new website!
We are continually thrilled with the results which has made a great and positive impact to the image of our organization. It truly reflects the quality of our services and we have Taproot to thank for it.
All the best to another 1000 successful projects!!!
1,000 is a really big number, and I'm super impressed by the many, many teams and individuals it has taken to get here. Every time I attend a Nonprofit Roundtable or Service Grant Orientation, a Taproot Staff Retreat or an Account Director training, I continue to be impressed by the quality of professionals in both the business and nonprofit communities who we have the privilege of working with at Taproot Foundation. The partnership of all these individuals is inspirational to see, and the potential we have as a society to continue working together across sectors for progress is immense. Nice work everyone--keep it up!
CONGRATULATIONS TAPROOT! You are an amazing organization doing tremendous good for so many important nonprofits. Kidpower is proud to have benefited from 2 of those 1,000 projects and look forward to many more. Our new website and logo truly reflect our values and are greatly furthering the mission of our organization. Working with Taproot staff and volunteers is a joy because of your professionalism, commitment, and expertise.
What an exciting milestone! The consultants on our database project were incredible. Janet, Peter, Gerry and Judy truly went the extra mile and stuck by us to the very end. Congratulations to everyone at Taproot on this great accomplishment!
Congratulations on this great Milestone.
Working with the Taproot Foundation and our amazing team of proffesionals was such a treat. Our new Dance Access/KIDS! brochure truly reflects what our program is all about thanks to their true dedication and willingness to really get to know AXIS, the team, the dancers, and our students.
During my AmeriCorps year at the Taproot Foundation in Chicago, I was always astounded by the dedication to service I saw in our pro bono consultants. They truly inspired me--so much so, that I now do pro bono work myself for a great nonprofit outside of my 9-5 job. Congratulations to you all for this tremendous achievement and thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, Taproot Foundation! This is an amazing and exciting milestone. It couldn't have been reached without the help of talented pro bono consultants, committed and focused nonprofit partners and the staff that make each project happen. A quick look at at these comments shows how many organizations and people have been touched by the power of pro bono! I can't wait to see what the next 1,000 projects bring.
I completed a grant with the Literacy Volunteers of DuPage in Chicago with a very talented team of volunteers and a great team at LVD. The work was not only enlightening, it was fun. The one on one English training provided to the local community in DuPage county is superb, and much needed. I thoroughly enjoyed being the Account Director for this project and certainly look forward to the next grant! Well done Taproot, here's to the next 10,000....
Cheers to the 1,000 projects! I feel fortunate to be a part of the Taproot Foundation team - first as a pro bono consultant for the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn and now as an AmeriCorps VISTA. It's been phenomenal to see how the collective work of nonprofits, pro bono consultants, staff, and community and business partners has contributed to building capacity of nonprofits nationwide. Congratulations to everyone!
Congratulations to you all for making the world a better place and contributing your special talents to worthy non-profits. Aaron's vision and leadership is an inspiration and your dedication makes it all happen.
I enjoy my outside spaces and have a strong interest in conservation and sustainability. So I'm very happy that the Taproot Foundation has been able to provide multiple grants to organizations such as Friends of the Forest Preserves, GRID Alternatives, Point Reyes National Seashore Association, Strategic Energy Initiatives and Sustainable South Bronx. These multiple grants, give over a period of years have helped these organizations build their capacity to fulfill their missions. Thank you to the pro bono consultants who supported these great nonprofits.
Congratulations!!! You guys are the best.
To our pro bono consultants-
Congratulations on a huge accomplishment! Thank you for all you do.
-April Kelley
Seattle Program Manager
Congratulations on such a huge accomplishment. We Care Services for Children has been fortunate to participate on two projects with Taproot. We appreciate the dedication and professionalism of both the Taproot employees and the Taproot pro bono consulatants. You are a valuable resource to the nonprofit community. Thank you!
Congratulations!
We are in the beginning phases of our first project and are loving every minute of it! The volunteers are so knowledgeable and committed to the work they are doing. Thank you for everything that you are doing for the entire nation. We are excited to be part of the next 1,000!
I have MANY great memories of our Taproot projects - from the graphic design volunteer on our brochure project who worked into the wee hours of the night getting ours just right then got a reference so she could shift into the nonprofit sector herself, to the volunteer from our website team who partied with us at the 30th anniversary gala of our Executive Director, to the team of our strategic planning project who deftly switched gears when the economy crashed in the midst of our project - each and every one of them with good humor and immeasurable helpfulness. Congratulations Taproot, and thank you to you and all the volunteers for such incredible service and leadership!!
Given the transition in our organization, it was past time to develop a multi-year strategic plan to identify the organizational goals and strategies needed to move PIA into the future with enough power to win complex social issues and to rebuild our communities. Being the beneficiary of a Taproot Strategic Planning Preparation grant enabled us to assess the internal and external challenges and opportunities for PIA with a dedicated team of professionals. Having this work done put us in an optimal position to hire a consultant for half what we would normally need to budget to work with our leadership to write a strategic plan. Having completed the Taproot Strategic Planning Preparation grant, our organization was in a position to complete a strategic planning process better informed and with clearer expectations of the process and of the strategic challenges and opportunities ahead of PIA. The Taproot team brought expertise and objective insight into assessing PIA's mission and impact. The team had NO prior experience with community organizing (what PIA does), yet they patiently got to know our organization and very capably guided us through an environmental scan and SWOT analysis. We learned how to match our strengths and weaknesses to opportunities and threats for strategic planning - a consultant's dream preparation in starting a strategic planning process with an organization! They taught us how to consider strategic options with consequences. They introduced us to new metrics to improve our organizational performance. And they left us with a wealth of data and useful resources that will inform our strategic planning. Most of all, we feel grateful to have spent several months with an incredible team of sharp and fun people (Jenn, Brannan, Bill, Anthony, and Pramodh), who brought their individual expertise and team spirit to truly partner with PIA to make us a stronger organization. A priceless contribution to our future success! We then hired a consultant (Marilyn Bancel), wrote up the plan, and our three-year strategic plan was just approved at our annual meeting last month! Thanks all!
Aside from meeting such wonderful, generous, and inspiring people, both through Taproot and the non-profits we assist (yay Rebuilding Together Oakland!), the best part comes every time I share my stories with other potential volunteers. When I see their eyes light up with interest. There are so many people with skills to share, who are still unaware of what they can do to help. Taproot gives us the opportunity to engage, participate, and contribute to the community we all long for in our careers.
I am not at all surprised at the success of Taproot. There is nothing else like it: the dedication, expertise wisdom and professionalism of the volunteers raises the bar for the non-profits they counsel and momentous internal changes are bound to follow. Maureen, Dan, Billy, Scott and Gwen, you were so targeted in your observations and your recommendations - we are still profiting from your work. Thank you all. And thank you, Taproot. Congratulations.
Taproot was transformational in our work. They recruited the best Project Director in the world, Dvora, who led two projects: visual identity and brand strategy followed by advanced website. Both projects made a tremendous difference in our impact by raising the level of exposure and professionalism that we communicated to the outside world.
Favorite memory: Sitting for the presentation of five concepts for a new logo and thinking to myself, "So this is what happens in the business world." What a luxury to have the talent and commitment of an exceptional team of experts.
We love Taproot deep down inside.
Rob
CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU for your labor of love! Sometimes, because of the pressures of the world around us, our service projects become self service projects rather than selfless service projects.
Selfless service projects are the projects of TAPROOT. They have continuity. They are not one-time special events based on hot topics of the day. Selfless service projects are people-to-people projects. They are face-to-face, eye-to-eye, voice-to-ear, heart-to-heart, spirit-to-spirit, and hand-in-hand, people-to-people projects.
As a non-for-profit organization blessed to have received two TAPROOT grants I humbly say "THANK YOU!" for reminding me of the importance of giving of myself and embarking in selfless service. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Taproot Foundation for a creative approach to supporting nonprofit organizations. As you know, it is often difficult to find support for the sorts of nonprogram-related projects that Taproot grants cover. Taproot provides critically important help to improve an organization's ability to reach primary audiences, communicate clearly, and raise revenue. Thank you Taproot volunteers for contributing your talents and experience to nonprofits. You are inspirational and gifted.
Congratulations to Taproot. We're lucky enough to be one of the !,000. We can't thank you enough for your very generous support and the expertise and dedication of our pro bono team: Houri Rami, Rob Fulwell, Vivek Rao, Ruchi Chopra and Tim Dahl. We're halfway on a humdinger of a fundraising database!
Our organization has benefitted from two Taproot service grants and both projects proved to be great successes. The Taproot teams are really awesome and our board and staff have nothing but praise for the final products.
Congratulations Taproot! One client at a time, you're enhancing the capacity of the nonprofit sector. Your contributions invigorate us, affirm us, and equip us to communicate our mission with excellence, effectiveness, and integrity. Your priceless contributions will add value to our efforts, and consequently, bless the lives of the people we serve. Gracias!
As the recipient of a Taproot grant in the San Francisco Bay area, Cystic Fibrosis Research, Inc. has a huge appreciation for the Taproot team that helped us last year. Our new website enables us to connect effectively with those who are challenged by CF - thank you so much. Congratulations to Taproot for providing the inspiration to members of the community, and for directing their efforts in such worthwhile projects. Your leadership shines!
I don't know what we would have done without Taproot. We have an amazing website that we're really proud of and are using it effectively to get vital information out to seniors and those who care for them. THANK YOU!!! Our Taproot team was fantastic and when I get organized enough I will come knocking on the door to ask for help on another project. Congratulations!
Congratulation Taproot for servicing 1000 projects! The Austin Foundation is truly blessed to be a part of the first 1000 projects and hopes to be a part of the next 1000. Thank you Taproot for all your work with the many organizations that you serve! It is a truly a transforming experience. The service team went above and beyond the call of duty and made us feel like family in every way. We got much more than we dreamed that we would receive from our service team. The Austin Foundation believe in the work that Taproot does and would be glad to support Taproot and the service team in any way we can.
Congratulations to Taproot on reaching this milestone! We at Chicago House loved working with our service team, and we love the new website that resulted. Thank you to Teri Gidwitz, account manager, Mike Szymanski, project manager, and the wonderful team of Mary Casperson, Gina Hutchings, Angel Tabora, and Brian Schuering for doing such amazing work!
Congratulations, Taproot! Tri-Valley Haven has been the delighted recipient of two service grants. Thanks to the awesome teams assembled by Account Director Steve Rokov, we have an impressive and professional annual report, and a fresh new look to our agency website. These gifts are especially appreciated in these dire financial times!
The Wonder of Reading was so touched when our Taproot team attended our Library Grand Opening Celebration and there wasn’t a dry eye— they were so clearly invested in the results of The Wonder of Reading. The fantastic annual report they helped us create will certainly help us achieve those results. Thank you Taproot and congratulations!
1,000 projects?!?!?!!!
BRILLIANT!!!
It's officially international news!
I'm so proud to be part of an organization that after only 10 years has produced 1,000 projects... that's a lot of selfless volunteerism! Congrats Taproot - well done! It was during my first project that I was reminded why I love marketing and do what I do. During a brand strategy presentation, our Client got so overwhelmed with happy emotion, that she cried! THAT was both an amazing Taproot and professional moment! I'm now into my second marketing project and I plan to be around for many more.
We have been so honored to be a Taproot grant recipient. Your model is truly wonderful. You have made services available to us that we would never have been able to afford otherwise. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a tremendous opportunity, and congratulations on completing your 1,000th Service Grant Project!
Great job! Hopefully there will be many more to come!! Pro bono work like this is so important to keep the non-profit world alive.
Here is an excellent example of some pro bono work for Limbs for Life
Congratulations and thank you to the staff and volunteers at Taproot!
Best wishes for continued success from your friends at the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, MA.
TAPROOT you are awesome! We've had the good fortune of recieving two count them two stellar grants. The first produced key messages and brand strategy and currently an amazingly creative professional TAPROOT team is working with us to develop a new website. On behalf of each person served at our adult day health organization Congratulations TAPROOT! Your generosity makes positive difference in countless lives!
When Tri-Valley Haven had our first project with Taproot, we were a bit apprehensive, but the opportunity was way too good to pass up. Our goal was to produce a professional annual report. We have worked with corporate groups and often in the corporate world the perception of nonprofits is that we have lots of support staff such as secretaries and administrative personnel, or that we have no skills outside of counseling people in distress. Taproot teams walk in the door without misperceptions. They were unbelieveably generous with their gifts and talents without assuming our staff had none to offer. The report is fantastic and our second website project is equally fantastic. No way could we have produced this alone. Taproot offers what no one else does and has impacted nonprofits in a profound manner. What can we say? They are multi-talented and gifted, gracious and a whole lot of fun! CONGRATULATIONS and Thank You! Pro-Bono Numero Uno!
Congratulations Taproot! We've worked on 2 projects with your wondeful volunteers and have had 2 great experiences! Keep up the GREAT work! Your friends at The Community House
Congratulations to Taproot and all of the volunteers who made reaching this milepost possible. The very idea that the value we here at Bellevue Arts Museum recieved and are building upon by working with Taproot is mutiplied by 1,000 times nationwide is exhilerating! Talk about a multiplier effect.
Mark Crawford
Execuitve Director
The Taproot help has been instrumental in our survival. Our website has had a lot more traffic, accolades, and clearly communicates who we are as an organization. Bravo Taproot!!!!!!! Thanks to the incredibly talented volunteers who worked with Taproot on this project!!!!!!!!
Sharon Miller
Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center's interaction with Taproot has been fantastic. We completed one project, on key messaging and branding that was received so positively by our staff, board and clients. The Taproot team carefully received all of our input, gave invaluable feedback and created a superb product. We are now working on our 2nd Taproot project, where we once again have a dream team of intelligent, creative, thoughtful and caring consultants. Thank you Taproot!
We had a fantastic experience working with a Taproot team to develop our agency's Brand Strategy and another great experience working a Taproot team to redesign our website. We have received many positive comments regarding our new website and no longer hestitate to send people our website address. The work that the teams did was extremely valuable to our agency. The process was handled professionally and the work was top notch. Thank you Taproot!
Center for Human Development
whoop! whoop! thanks to all who helped proved pro bono can be effective! these 1000 projects are an amazing testimony... thanks to all who will take our collective learnings to the next level of pro bono action, both within taproot and beyond, in their everydays. so exciting to be a part of this collective movement, cross-sector and across so many people. whoop a third time!
Taproot Foundation has helped my nonprofit change its face and stay with the times thanks to three marketing grants completed successfully. Every meeting I had with Taproot volunteers has been a pleasure and the volunteers have been the best "consultants" we have ever had! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations Taproot! We spent many evenings over sandwiches and cookies with our Taproot team - Shayne Mackey, Jenn Luethy, Bob Johnson, Drew Johnson, and Laura Small - working on Key Messages and Brand Strategy. Sitting at my desk right now I can see the yellow "Taproot" heading popped up in my stand-up file. I reach for it many times a week - whenever I need to make the case for our organization: grant writing, donation requests, reviewing our "elevator pitch." We had a great time working with our team and feel fortunate to have been able to take advantage of Taproot's time here in Boston! Thank you!
Our Taproot team is still working on our Service Grant -- a Basic Web Site -- for the Wilmington Community Clinic. It is their first web site, and our team has seen what an impact our work can have. We have been moved by the experience of working with such a great client team. I think they like us, too!
Our project is nearly complete, so we'll be helping Taproot get to 2000 Service Grants completed.
We've had many inspiring moments. One came last week, when our Marketing Manager shared his idea: to continue to provide some pro bono help to the clinic after the project is complete. The need is so clear, and our work with the clinic has been so fulfilling, that some of the team members volunteered to keep helping the clinic, even after the Service Grant is completed.
So, kudos to Taproot, for unleashing the spirit of the volunteers to make a difference and to continue making a difference!
I attended a fund raising event for Alum Rock Counseling Center a couple weeks ago. I got to hear the Executive Director eloquently state how important the organization is to the community and have data points and statistics to back up the impact of the organization. This brought tears to my eyes since about two years ago, our Taproot team heard the Executive Director and a board member state, “we don’t have the words to describe our organization beyond our program descriptions. Can you give us words that help us tell the ARCC story?” I am so proud of this branding team and honored to serve shoulder to shoulder with ‘Roots that provide these services to the non-profits that shoulder such a heavy load for our communities.
Congratulations to the Taproot Foundation! Huckleberry Youth Programs received an Advanced Website Grant and the best part of the grant was working with the highly creative, professional, and experienced team that Taproot put together for us. We now have a youthful and colorful new website that is easy to keep updated and current and has launched Huckleberry into the Web 2.0 stratosphere! We can't wait to work with Taproot again. Kudos on all you do for our nonprofit community!
Association House of Chicago feels very privileged to have been awarded a Key Messages service grant from the Taproot Foundation. The Taproot volunteer team was extremely professional, enthusiastic and creative. As an organization we truly enjoyed working with such seasoned professionals that helped us to stay on track and meet the established deadlines. Due to the encouragement of the Taproot volunteer team, Association House applied for a second grant for Visual Identity, which has been awarded! Even more encouraging is that the majority of the volunteer team from the first service grant requested to stay on for the next project. We would like to commend the Taproot Foundation for building such a solid and worthwhile program to help non-profits that are committed to working towards the greater good and would ordinarily not be able to afford such stellar services.
