Case Study: SAP Business Objects

Expanding a software donation program to include pro bono implementation support

CHALLENGE

With a technology donation program already up and running, Business Objects, now owned by SAP, came to the Taproot Foundation to build pro bono implementation support into their existing giving program. As a product development and professional services firm, SAP has a global reputation of matching client needs with technology solutions and providing the necessary configuration to get new software running smoothly. SAP wanted to extend the same high-quality implementation system to its nonprofit partners.

APPROACH

Partnering with SAP, Taproot Foundation first gained a comprehensive understanding of the existing program and associated tools. Using Taproot’s extensive pro bono service delivery expertise, we modified the existing product implementation model with key steps and processes that overcome common challenges that can arise when doing consultative work on a pro bono basis. By incorporating pro bono service delivery best practices, SAP now has configuration solutions that are most effective for nonprofits, helping the power of their solutions translate well on a pro bono basis to meet the needs of nonprofits. Taproot also supported the development of case studies to boost internal support and employee involvement with the program on a global basis.

RESULT

SAP now offers pro bono product implementation support along with its product discounts and donations. By strengthening their donation model and providing full spectrum support to nonprofits, SAP has projects running smoothly and more efficiently while providing nonprofit partners a top-notch, customized technology solution.
