Our unique approach enables us to deliver a service that can help you achieve your mission while minimizing the work and frustration typically associated with pro bono service.
  • Professional quality materials and services that rival those of professional
services firms where you could expect to pay $30,000 or more for each of our
        projects
  • No need to recruit, screen and manage multiple volunteers yourself
  • No worrying that the loss of a volunteer will end the project
  • No lengthy evaluation reports to prepare
  • Our approach is based on these core components:

    Standardized Services

We offer a predefined catalogue of standardized services. Each service adheres to a defined scope, timeline and team composition which enables you to know exactly what you are getting.

Consultation on Service Selection & Fit

We will work closely your organization to ensure that your Service Grant is the best fit with your organization and to reach your desired outcomes. This process is designed to ensure that your organization’s needs are met and that the project is successful.

    Pro Bono Professionals

Your consulting team will be staffed by highly qualified business professionals who offer their expertise and time pro bono to help the community. Each person on your team has submitted their resume to us, and been interviewed by our trained staff to ensure that they have the specific skills and experiences needed for your project.

    Professional Project Management

Your consulting team is led by a volunteer Project Manager with professional project management experience. In addition, your project receives high-level oversight from a volunteer Account Director. Your Account Director will review all deliverables for quality, coach the consulting team to ensure a satisfactory outcome, be available to coach you or your board on key decisions, and directly intervene if there are problems. Finally, a full-time Taproot Foundation program manager stays in active weekly touch with your project following the project against its timeline and scope, and is always available if needed by you or your consulting team.

    Blueprints

You and your consulting team will receive a detailed Blueprint that reflects the lessons we have learned from more than 150 client engagements. The Blueprint provides a project plan with clear, step-by-step details of what you and the team will be doing, and clear suggestions for how to avoid common challenges.

    Timeline

We understand the urgency of your needs and have developed a streamlined grant making process to meet those needs. We have four grant cylces per year, which means a grant application deadline is never more than three months away. Our grant making process is quick: it takes just three months on average from the application deadline for us to reach a final grant decision. From there, we move immediately to staff and prepare your team of volunteer consultants, which generally takes about one month. Once the team is in place and prepared, the project generally takes five to six months to complete.

    Evaluation

Your Taproot Foundation team works with you to define clear and focused goals for how your project will strengthen your organization. This will make your project more successful, and enables us to easily evaluate projects’ success. Unlike many foundations we do not require lengthy evaluation reports.
